This exhibition showcases powerful, atmospheric depictions of stormy Highland skyscapes, captured in their full intensity through oils and acrylic inks by Meg Milne, a new artist to the gallery.
It was a move to the Highlands with her family in 2006 that reignited her desire to create and through several years of experimenting in various mediums while attending tutored workshops, art vacations, and visiting many galleries and exhibitions, she has developed her individual technique to visually describe, through expression, the shifting light & space that captivates and surrounds her and hopes that when people view her art it awakens all the senses.
"I am both excited and overwhelmed by the skies we experience in the Highlands. The way in which the changing light plays with mood and atmosphere. Whether its light reflecting on a sandy beach, crashing waves as a storm approaches, or shadows cast as the morning light hits the side of a mountain.
Painting in oil or acrylic ink allows me the immediacy and vibrancy I seek to respond in paint to my surroundings, creating works of art that not only reflect the natural landscape in the Highlands, but my emotional reaction to what I see."
