Associated Portland Cement Manufacturers ran their own railway system at their cement works at Swanscombe in Kent. No.4 (works No.3718) was one of six identical 0-4-0 saddle tank locos ordered from Hawthorn Leslie of Newcastle. Built in 1928, No.4 worked until 1970 hauling material from the chalk pits at Swanscombe Quarry to the cement works. Fortunately this loco and one of her sisters were secured for preservation and No.4 is now fully restored and operational again.
