This is a colourful study of the Firth near Urquhart, but a little further along towards the Cromarty Bridge. I had to climb down through woodland on the banks here, so it felt secluded and peaceful on the shore. I was totally out of view but with a magnificent seascape stretched out before me, continuing as far as the eye could see.  This painting is a bright and bold representation of the area - I've tried to capture the energy between the contrasting sea, rock, grass and sky. There is a lot of texture within the paint where I've aimed to show the change between smooth and textured surfaces, but with subtlety and balance.
