At the shore, looking west from Kiltearn, near Evanton, when the tide was out. It’s one of my favourite places to walk along the Firth as the views are always so dramatic. I have tried to capture the feeling of the water and rocky shoreline in the afternoon sun... I wanted to use large brushstrokes to convey the power of this view. The sun glistened on the mudflats like a mirror and the view ahead stretched for miles. It was summer and it was hot, still and everything shone bright – charged by the sun. I felt so grounded to this view on this day, it felt like freedom. I felt free.
