The Firth was frozen, cold and yet bright on this winter’s day along the beach at Dingwall. The sky shone blue and was reflected in the mud as the tide was out. The rocky shore grasped the snow and held onto it amongst the grass, rockpools and stony beach. On first inspection this scene looked like a typical cold, blue sky and snowy day but as I looked closer, I could actually see lots of colour hidden. Earthy tones shone amongst the rocks and sand and the clouds were reflected in the water causing an array of blues and greys. The grassy banks looked dark in contrast to the fresh white snow. I have tried to capture the texture along the shoreline and show this cold landscape in its winter brilliance.
