What You Will Find
Whether you are planning to visit us in Dingwall, or browse our online offer, we hope you will enjoy discovering the original and different; for yourself, your home, and to give to others.
The Scottish Highlands are an inspirational place, home to many talented artists and makers that we are delighted to work with. We also source great craftsmanship from elsewhere in the UK and further afield if we like it, and the story behind it, aiming to ensure a fair rate is paid for quality work. Knowing lots of talented people means we may be able to commission bespoke items for you; please contact us with your request.
We offer a pack and post service, UK and worldwide.
In addition, we host a variety of art, printmaking and textile exhibitions, and other creatives events throughout the year, with free entry during normal opening hours. Many of these will celebrate Scotland's Year of Coasts and Waters 2020. You might just find that special piece of Scottish art to enhance wherever you live or work.
Check our ‘what’s on’ page for event updates. We are currently working on another part of the building, to create further workshop, studio and meeting space, which will open summer 2020.
Dingwall; a grand day out, whatever the weather!
Formerly Golspie Gallery, we have now relocated a little further south, and can be found at 48 High Street, Dingwall in Ross-shire IV15 9HL, and look forward to seeing visitors both old and new.
Alchemist Gallery is very easy to find, at the east end of Dingwall's main shopping street. Look out for our dark blue frontage. There is plenty of free parking signposted throughout the town. Or you can take the bus or train; both stop nearby 'our' end of the High Street.
The former county town of Dingwall sits at the head of the Cromarty Firth, and is still home to a busy livestock auction market. It offers locals and visitors alike a great range of services, quality independent shops from butchers to bookshops, good eateries, and has a rich and fascinating history. If, like us, you enjoy having real conversations, with real people, in the real world, we think it is well worth a browse.
We are based in an old chemist's shop, where original features from over 170 years ago have been preserved, and the local museum offers a wealth of information about the ‘locals’; from the Picts, Vikings and onwards.
A wide range of local accomodation options also mean staying a while in town, or nearby in rural Ross-shire is easy.
